Sabrina Stuurman

Sabrina obtained her bachelor’s in Medical Sciences from HAN University (Netherlands) in 1999 and began her career as a medical technologist in the Department of Anatomical Pathology at the University Medical Center in Utrecht (Netherlands). As well as her diagnostic tasks (IHC and ISH) at the Immunopathology Laboratory (Molecular and Immunopathology sub-department), Sabrina was actively involved in the research of Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease.

As lab manager at the Immunopathology Laboratory Sabrina was responsible for research and diagnostics from 2002 until 2012. Her responsibilities included the automation of IHC and ISH techniques as well as the introduction and development of over 100 new antibodies for diagnostics. She was also actively involved in the national quality accreditation (CCKL) for the Department of Anatomical Pathology and was an internal CCKL auditor for the Division of Laboratory and Pharmacy.

Sabrina joined the Diagnostech team in 2013 as a Sales and Application Specialist, giving her the opportunity to share her knowledge and educate technicians and technologists in South Africa.

When Diagnostech became the sole supplier for Agilent Genomics in Southern Africa, Sabrina was appointed Sales Manager for Agilent Genomics and Dako Pathology product lines and her subsequent promotions to Sales and Customer Service Manager, and Product Manager for Pathology further demonstrates her value to the team.

Sabrina is a Salsa dancing extraordinaire and an excellent tennis player. An avid traveller, her travels often take her to Swaziland where she takes part in various outreach programmes.
