Derek started his career as a Field Service Engineer in 1988 with the then Department of Posts and Telecommunications, beginning as a Technical Officer at Telkom from 1988 to 1997, where he was responsible for planning economical underground and overhead cable layouts, preparing estimates, documenting data, and coordinating projects. He then served as a Field Services Engineer at Celestial Solutions from 1997 to 1999, specialising in the installation and commissioning of Active Voice PC-based voicemail systems. His roles have involved project coordination, technical planning, and collaboration with various teams to support network infrastructure and equipment installations. With 37 years of service-related experience in various technical support, technical training, and customer service engineering roles, Derek brings a wealth of technical skills and joins Diagnostech as a Field Service Engineer.

In his free time, Derek enjoys listening to music, playing bass guitar, and spending time with his loved ones.
