Andrea Hilton-Barber

Andrea’s love for science began when she started her studies at the University of Pretoria, completing a BSc in Human Genetics. She continued her education by completing her Honors Degree in Genetics in the Molecular Ecology and Evolution Program, with a focus on population genetics.

She subsequently interned in the Animal Health Department at the South African Association for Marine Biological Research. Her role consisted of a combination of molecular diagnostics and assisting the veterinarians with medical procedures and routine health checks. After her internship, she was offered an opportunity to work at a Pathology Lab, assisting with Covid-19 sampling and later transitioned into an administrative role in one of the peripheral laboratories.

Andrea joined Diagnostech as our Internal Sales and QMS Administrator where she used her passion for science to help, understand, and support our amazing customers and team. Her fine eye for detail, lead her to her current role as our Quality & Service Manager.

In her free time, she is a voracious reader who loves to travel to magical, far off places (in a way her budget allows). When she can’t do that, she enjoys good food, good friends and the occasional jaunt to the mountains.
